Kamp Lenape’s programs continue the property’s legacy of serving Kent County children that reaches back to the 1920s. The original building was created as Union School in 1921 as one of over 90 schools Pierre du Pont spearheaded for underserved communities. In the 1970s, that service continued with United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware’s Camp Lenape summer program. Now as Kamp Lenape under KSI, the tradition of making lives better for Delaware’s children with disabilities will keep moving forward. Activities campers will enjoy include crafts, sports, swimming, community trips to fairs and events, and more. Days also include visits from community service representatives from local police, fire and other groups. And there’s plenty of room on the grounds to run, play basketball and dance. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily for all campers.
